A Very Tragic Thing

As I sit here writing this with tears literally streaming down my face, I am engulfed with emotion at the news I just heard.  Hutcheson Medical Center was attacked by a gunman tonight.  I worked there for over thirty years and have so many people whom I love deeply that are still there.  Praise the Lord that none them were physically harmed.  But, I know that it is in the nature of my dear friends there to be emotionally distraught at the tragedy that has occurred. A disturbed person carried a loaded gun into the hospital and people were injured, some critically.   I do not know what prompted this action of violence at a hospital where people are expecting to feel safe.  HMC employees have been bombarded with bad publicity, but they are not deserving of their reputation.  My friends at HMC strive to give compassionate, quality care and take pride in their work all the while having the stress of poor management.  As people tend to take any negative publicity and run with it, I am sure that this latest horrible incident, that is no fault of anyone at HMC, will add to pessimistic attitudes of the public.  I pray that God will give comfort to those in need at HMC and understanding to others.
